FAR has been working together with the International Bauorden since 2007. FAR organises IBO workcamps in the Burgas region.

Balgorovo
In Balgorovo a work camp took place in the summer of 2009. Balgarovo is a town in south eastern Bulgaria. It is located 8 km from the town center of the municipality, Burgas, and the Black Sea.
The young people in Blagarovo did not have their own place to meet, communicate and be active. Since the 2009 work camp the Chitalishte building (community center) has been renovated. Among other things there is a new room in the Chitalishte which is now used as a youth centre.
The Bulgarian Chitalishte
The Chitalishte is a typical Bulgarian public institution with several functions. It is a community centre, library, theatre, children and youth club all in one. It is also used as an educational institution, comparable with the Folk High Schools. The Chitalishte contribute to the social and cultural life of a community. Unfortunately many Chitalishtes are in a very bad condition and badly need renovation work done to them.
Sredetz
In Sredetz work camps took place in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Sredetz is a town in south eastern Bulgaria. It is located 27 km from the town center of the municipality, Burgas, and the Black Sea. It is situated in the proximity of Lake Mandrensko and the northern slopes of Strandzha Mountain.
In 2008 several work camps were organized by the Swiss IBO. One children’s home has since been renovated. The volunteers renewed the sanitary facilities and the yard. Furthermore a gym has been re-done, which now is not only used for sport purposes but also for other events for the youngsters and adults of Sredetz.
The renovation of the old dormitory took place in 2008. The main part of the building is, however, currently still empty. Now it is used as an education centre by the FAR association, among others, for seminars, meetings, conferences and international youth exchanges.
The work was continued in 2009 and the seminar room was completely renewed. There is enough room to accommodate 30 participants, a seminar room, a kitchen and a community room.
FAR built the center in order to create a meeting and educational place to introduce new and modern non-formal education in the region Burgas. Thanks to the help of the IBO and the openness of the municipality of Sredetz, rooms can be created for this purpose.
In the center of Sredetz there is also a Chitalishte (see above), in which some rooms and the yard have been renovated during a work camp 2009.
Schon seit 1999 nimmt FAR Freiwillige aus Deutschland auf und entsendet seinerseits bulgarische Freiwillige ins Ausland (hauptsächlich nach Deutschland). In den ersten Jahren wurde der Freiwilligenaustausch von der Robert-Bosch-Stiftung koordiniert und gefördert.
Seit 2007 ist FAR als Aufnahme- und Entsendeorganisation für den Europäischen Freiwilligendienst akkreditiert. Der Europäische Freiwilligendienst ist Teil des Programms „Youth-in-Action“ der Europäischen Kommission. 2007 nahm FAR zum ersten Mal eine Freiwillige im Rahmen dieses Programms auf.
FAR als Aufnahmeorganisation:
FAR bietet jungen Freiwilligen aus Deutschland die Möglichkeit ihren Europäischen Freiwilligendienst für ein Jahr bei FAR zu machen. Die Freiwilligen können Bulgarien, die bulgarische Sprache und Kultur besser kennen lernen und sich mit der Arbeit des Vereins, sowie der Situation der außerschulischen politischen Bildung im Land auseinandersetzen. FAR unterstützt die Freiwilligen bei ihren Erfahrungen und profitiert seinerseits von neuen Ideen und dem kulturellen Austausch, der dadurch stattfinden kann.
Zurzeit macht Rebekka Hölzle aus Karlsruhe ihren Europäischen Freiwilligendienst bei FAR.
FAR als Entsendeorganisation:
Bis jetzt hat FAR noch keine Freiwilligen über das EVS-Programm entsendet, ist allerdings offen für Bewerber und Projektpartner. Der Verein FAR bietet jungen, engagierten Bulgaren die Möglichkeit einen Freiwilligendienst im europäischen Ausland zu machen, ein neues Land kennenzulernen und neue einmalige Erfahrungen zu machen.
2009 hat FAR eine Freiwillige nach Frankreich entsendet, allerdings nicht über das EVS-Programm, sondern über ein deutsches Freiwilligenprogramm. So macht Emine Haka aus Ljujakovo, einem Dorf in der Nähe von Burgas, gerade ihren Freiwilligendienst in Niederbronn-les-Bains in Frankreich bei der „Initiative Chretienne pour l`Europe – Reseau Francophone“. Dort arbeitet sie in einer Einrichtung für behinderte Erwachsene.
